The classification rules or general interpretative rules from Rule 1 to Rule 6 helps to find HSN code of any goods. HSN is also called Indian Trade Classification. WTO says it is international language of goods and it is fixed at 6 digit code. But country have the right to add two more digit and India follows 8 digit trade classification.


First two digit is Chapter


Four digit is Heading


Six digit is Sub-Heading


Eight digit is tariff item.
